The audiobook got me through a really long car ride, and is a great read if you're looking for a ridiculous and out there book. I've listened to about a half hour of the audiobook and it's simply fantastic. The writing is absurd, but not poor, and the fact that anybody would meld these two things together makes it okay in my book. If I may use an Internet meme: Still a better story than Twilight.
